Founded in 1972, the Woodbridge Branch of the American Association of University Women is a remarkable group of women of diverse interests and backgrounds united by a common goal of education and equity for women and girls. To that end, we have successfully blended general meetings featuring informative speakers on issues important to women and families with projects supporting our goals.

Our projects are varied. Our annual fashion show has continued to raise money for our very own Susan Nathanson Fairey Research and Projects Grant through the AAUW Educational Foundation. Money raised will be used for Community Action projects that support and encourage girls in math, science and technology.

Our annual “Girls + Math + Science = Success Conference” held in March and always a huge success, introduces girls from throughout our county to women who work in many different careers. The participants enjoy a variety of workshops and leave empowered!

The Woodbridge Branch is pleased to judge and encourage middle school girls at the annual Prince William County Regional Science Fair. We have also established a very exciting “hands on” Saturday morning Computer Club for elementary school girls.

Active study groups in our branch include two book groups and a “gourmet out” group. We have several members who have become world travelers together and others who just get together for a weekend movie. Our biggest member attractions are our annual fall potluck dinner and our annual Spring Membership Salad Luncheon. These wonderful activities serve to enlighten our minds, enrich our spirits and create a unified, vibrant membership.
